When the rain seeps into the dry earth and the Great Basin Sagebrush release an earthen perfume of soft, mineral, warmth. It’s visceral. Colores deepen, granite warms, air cools, and the petrichor ignites.
What began as a simple spark of inspiration turned into months of development. I wanted to make a glaze that truly brought to life the muted green, dusty grey, and warm taupe of the Great Basin Sagebrush. But it had to be dynamic, just like this fragrant plant that comes alive when saturated.

Petrichor is an earthy, sage green glaze that breaks perfectly over the dusty orange clay body. It is my representation of the high desert’s exhale after a midsummer thunderstorm, when the quietly aromatic landscape begins anew. The surface of the bowl has been altered with small trimmed notches to give the look and feel of the weathered landscape.
